Fix Memory Usage by File Based Write Filter Reached a Critical Warning Level

Memory Usage by File Based Write Filter Reached a Critical Warning Level notification followed by automatic reboot is due to the Cache Threshold Size having been reached.  RAM for FBWF Cache Usage is set to 128 MB for 32 Bit systems and 256 MB for 64 Bit systems.

By Default, Low Memory Message 1 is set to 70 Percent and will show the Green Lock icon within a Yellow Circle when memory usage by file based write filter has reached that threshold (70 Percent of Threshold Size).

By Default, Low Memory Message 2 is set to 95 Percent and will show the Green Lock icon within a Red Circle when memory usage by file based write filter has reached that threshold (95 Percent of Threshold Size).  At that point the system will reboot in 120 seconds.

Memory Usage by File Based Write Filter Reached a Critical Warning Level notification will usually appear on systems that have installed applications locally other than the very basic clients used to connect to a virtual environment.

In our case, the HP T620 thin client was displaying the Memory Usage by File Based Write Filter Reached a Critical Warning Level notification after installing several applications locally such as printer drivers for locally installed printers, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Symantec Endpoint Protection client, Teamviewer and updating Internet Explorer to the latest version.  The issue was promptly resolved by increasing the RAM for FBWF Cache Usage (MB) from the default threshold size of 128 MB to 256 MB on a 32 Bit system.

As a best practice, you don’t want to install these type of applications on a thin client to begin with.

HP P3015 Laserjet Replace Fuser – Fix Processing Job – Fix Ink Marks

There are two symptoms that may result from a bad fuser on an HP P3015 Laserjet printer.  Consider replacing the fuser on an HP P3015 Laserjet printer if it gets hung up on a message that reads “Processing Job” or if there are black ink marks on the paper.

HP P3015 Fuser/ Maintenance Kit

The paper prints out with black ink marks.

There are no visible signs of residual ink or it has been cleaned.  These black ink marks get worse over time and don’t go away.  The black ink marks are due to a bad fuser sleeve that has been worn or is damaged.  If you want to save some money it is possible to replace just the fuser sleeve rather than the whole fuser but this will require more work on your part.

The following video explains how to replace a bad fuser sleeve step by step.  It is for a different model printer but the process is almost the same.

“Processing job…” message appears on display panel and printer hangs.

Another symptom that may result from a bad fuser on an HP P3015 Laserjet printer is if the printer hangs while printing and the message “Processing job…” can be seen on the display panel.  Power cycling the printer will usually allow it to print again for a little while until it does it again.  The issue is due to the fuser not heating up properly. Powering the printer off for a few minutes might make it work for a while but it will get worse over time.   The following video shows step by step how  to remove and install a fuser on an HP P3015 Lasterjet printer.

While updating the image for an HP T620 thin client, we received this same error.  Thanks to the post above I was able to download the file manually from the HP FTP server.  However, I’m now having trouble installing the image.
